I've decided to start a 6-month fitness PDP alongside my apprenticeship. I worked out at a Crossfit gym and trained in powerlifting for 2 years, and I absolutely loved it. Now I'm cutting back my budget, and don't think it would be prudent to spend $185/mo for a membership during my apprenticeship. I needed to find an alternative low-budget work out plan to get me in shape and keep me motivated. I searched around for possibilities and found a program through a friend who had an amazing fitness transformation.
I've been testing the program over the past two weeks, and I think it's perfect for what I'm needing. It's called Bikini Body Guide and was developed by an Australian trainer named Kayla Itsines. It consists of short (28-minute), high-intensity workouts mixed in with some lower intensity cardio sessions. It uses primarily body weight movements, and a few simple pieces of equipment, so I won't need to shell out money to set myself up. So far, I've found that it's easy to follow, and it's the perfect amount of time to get a good workout in but be able to fit it easily into a busy schedule.
I've already started doing the workouts, but will begin tracking and measuring my progress on August 21st, the day I start my apprenticeship. There's a few reasons I'm doing this. First, in the past, I've let my fitness go by the wayside when I plunge into my work. I want to make sure I'm taking the time to prioritize my fitness instead of turning to mindless rest after a long day. It will actually help me keep my energy up and contribute to my work. Second, I've developed some discipline during my 30-day blogging challenge so far and want to channel that growth in a new challenge. Third, I have long felt that I look alright, but not anywhere near my best. I'm ready to crush it and feel as good as I possibly can.
I want to maximize the transformation that takes place during my apprenticeship, inside and out. I'll be posting updates every 4 weeks to track and assess my progress during the 6 months. Of course, I know that my diet is more than half of the battle, so I'll be following an eating plan as well. I'm really excited to see what kind of changes will happen. Learn more about BBG here.
